A little background on Rob LeRoy, the Real Estate Novelist:

• I am a real estate agent, social media marketing consultant, entrepreneur, and a real sweet kid… (Thanks, Mom…that phrase is a little outdated…but whatever…)

  I write about and sell real estate, working primarily with home-buyers in the Bellingham and Seattle metro areas, and writing about real estate and life in the Northwest.

  I’m a big fan of live music and micro-brews, both of which appear quite often in my writing. I take a laid-back, practical approach to my work, my writing and my life. It has always been my philosophy that life is best when you can find the humor in it all. Whatever doesn’t kill me makes me stronger, and the bastards never drag me down.

  I spend quite a bit of time coaching other real estate agents, artists, and small business owners on modern, social-media-based marketing opportunities. In particular, I help them to integrate sites like Facebook and Twitter into their marketing plans, and to understand the power of personal branding.

  For side-projects, I do event and party planning. Booking venues, bands, organizing themes and guest lists, etc. I’ve got about a dozen significant projects under my belt, usually birthday parties and small corporate events.

  In my free time I play my guitar, hike in the hills, and spend a lot of time at the gym- mainly to offset my micro-brew enthusiasm. I travel whenever and wherever possible, always thirsting for new and exciting places, challenges and experiences.

Lastly, I would like to step up to my soapbox for a minute and say that I take my work very seriously, even while I’m enjoying it. My Basque grandmother taught me to be honest, which I am… almost to a fault. It is not uncommon for me to shoot myself in the foot because I just can’t help myself- I just tell it like it is.  I detest the image of real estate agents as used-car salesmen, and I have little patience for the many agents out there who continue to conduct themselves in a manner that perpetuates that image.  I speak to my clients in plain English, provide solid information,  and I’m not afraid to tell them when they are making mistakes, even if it costs me a paycheck…it wouldn’t be the first time. Honesty reaps its own rewards…
